Les Émirats arabes unis ont annoncé vendredi 11 mars 2022, une aide de 85 millions de dollars américains pour résoudre les problèmes humanitaires dans la Corne de l’Afrique.
Ce don de 85 millions de dollars sera donné au continent d’Afrique pour l’aider à la gestion des opérations humanitaires en Éthiopie. En partenariat avec le fonds de secours contre la famine, l’aide financière sera allouée à certaines Agences des Nations Unies notamment : le Programme Alimentaire Mondial, le Comité International de la Croix Rouge, le Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’Enfance et le Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés.
Cette information a été livrée lors d’un point de presse adressé par le sous-secrétaire général du Haut-commissariat aux réfugiés et le coordinateur des secours d’urgence, Martin Griffiths concernant la sécheresse dans la Corne de l’Afrique.
Son Excellence Cheick Shakbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan secrétaire de l’Estate, a déclaré que : «Les Émirats arabes unis accordent une attention particulière à cette question afin d’assurer la stabilité dans la Corne de l’Afrique car le changement climatique affecte négativement les situations humanitaires. Par conséquent, la promesse que nous avons faite renforcera la capacité des agences humanitaires à secourir les régions en état d’urgence.»
L’intervention des Émirats Arabes Unis, UAE s’inscrit dans ses efforts déployés dans le domaine humanitaire. À cet égard, le Croissant-Rouge des Émirats arabes unis et l’organisation Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan ont lancé un pont aérien ainsi qu’un bateau de secours afin de secourir les personnes touchées par la sécheresse en Somalie.

UAE earmarks US dollars 85m for humanitarian aid in Africa

United Arab Emirates announced an aid of 85 Millions of Dollars to tackle humanitarian issues in the Horn of Africa.
The UAE has declared its willing to donate 85 million Dollars to help running humanitarian operations in Ethiopia.
In partnership with the relief fund against famine, the financial aid will be allocated to certain UN Agencies such as: the World Food Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the United Nations High-Commissioner for refugees.
The announcement of this aid was revealed during a press Briefing addressed by the Under-Secretary-General for High commissioner for Refugees and the emergency relief coordinator, Martin Griffiths regarding the dryness in the Horn of Africa.
His Excellency Cheick Shakbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan secretary of Estate, stated that: « the UAE devotes specific attention to this issue in order to ensure stability in the Horn of Africa as the climate change affects negatively the humanitarian situations. Hence, the pledge we made will enhance the humanitarian Agencies capacity to rescue the regions in state of emergencies.»
The UAE intervention come under its efforts made in the humanitarian field. In this regard, the UAE Red-Crescent and Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Organization have lunched an air bridge as well as a boat of relief in order to rescue people affected by the dryness in Somalia.
